Torku Seker Spor Team at Tour of Qinghai Lake
The Turkish top cycling team Torku Seker Spor pedals in China again, after Tour of Taihu Lake (UCI 2.2) 2011 harvesting home with two stage wins, for the higher-ranked race of Tour of Qinghai Lake (UCI 2.HC).
Arrving with the Tour of Taihu Lake double stage winner, Ukranian Yuriy Metlushenko, the motivated team is ready for the challenge with the strong line-up of former Turkish national road race champion Mirac Kal and Mustafa Sayar, the 25 year-old 2012 Tour of Turkey GC winner, among the others.
Having long-time experience and more sufficient and upgraded equipments, along with about 30 riders, more than 50 bikes and enlarged number of staff, Torku Seker Spor has been growing and extending. Their active participation in both domestic and international races has brought them under spotlight.
Stepping out of the country and being in China for the second time, the team has a good impression on the reception and organization of local races. As Tour of Qinghai Lake unique in terms of long distance, strong competition and high altitude, the well-shaped team is excited to race with the star riders and aggressive former jersey winners from around the world.
In Qinghai, Andrey Mizurov, Nazim Bakirci and Sergiy Grechyn will be targeting at climbs, Yuriy Metlushenko sprints for the points, while Mustafa Sayar and David De La Fuente Rasilla being domestics.
“Mustafa is a great rider and he has a lot of energy. He has fulfilled the mission and expectations the team has had for him. We hope him to rest a bit after the Tour of Turkey, and there is World Championship coming up. But he still wants to move and try to fly in Qinghai.” Team manager Mr.Safakci said.
Mr.Safakci expected the difficulties riders might face in highland racing, and is hoping for a good result of top 5 in team classification and GC ranking. The team has been training exceptionally for high altitude around 2300m above sea level since early June.
